How To Serve Carnivore Houseguests

“Wait, is there meat in this?”

We live a few states away from both of our families and a few times a year they come to visit and stay with us. But I refuse to let our “dietary differences” stress me out. I have kids and a full time job and I just can’t afford to worry about much else.

Here’s our normal routine when we have houseguests:

  • Order pizza one night, have them get a meat-lovers or whatnot and load yours up with veggies and skip the cheese.
  • Grill burgers (veggie for you, meat for them.) Most sides are plant based anyways, so serve it with some corn on the cob and a can of baked beans (get the vegetarian version, no one will notice)
  • Go out to eat – everyone can order what they want!
  • Make a vegan meal and buy a roast chicken at the store for them to have on the side
  • Buy a dozen eggs and deli meat to keep in the fridge for them to help themselves
  • Make a big pot of veggie soup and serve with a fresh baguette
  • Pasta with a pot of veggie balls for you guys and a pot of meatballs from the freezer section for them
  • Make tacos with a meat substitute (fake crumbles) or beans/ lentils (they’ll live!)
  • If you’re on the road, stop at one of these fast food restaurants knowing everyone has options.
  • Chinese takeout has something for everyone (Thai, Indian, and Italian are all good options, too.)

If you all exhaust these options, your houseguests have stayed too long!
